keep a hold on抓住，掌握：
We must keep a firm hold on our central work. 我们要抓住中心工作。
keep a promise / law, etc. 遵守诺言/法律等：
One should keep one’s promise. 一个人应当遵守自己的诺言。

Our clock keeps good time. 我们的钟走得很准。

keep a secret守秘密：

(1) keep from后多接动名词短语，即keep from doing sth.， 偶尔跟名词。例如：he keeps from wine. 他忌酒。
(2) keep sb. doing sth.表示“使某人不干某事”“阻止某人干某事”。例如：The heavy rain kept us from entering the meeting. 这场大雨使我们没能参加会议。

该短语常用于简单时态。一般常用于祈使句或嘱咐他人的语气中，通常不用主语。如果用主语，常用情态动词must, should来加强语气。另外，该短语也常用于It is kept in mind that … 句型中。
keep in touch (with) 保持（与••••••）联系：
We must keep in touch with our lawyer. 我们必须与我们的律师保持联系。

(1) keep in touch with意为“保持与•••••的联系”，即原来就有联系，强调现在仍然维持或保持着。
(2) get in touch with意为“与•••••取得联系”，即原来无联系，现因需要而建立或取得了联系。
(3) 除意思上的差别外，二者的差别在于：前者是延续性动词短语，可以和表示一段时间的状语连用，而后者表示一瞬时运作，一般不能和表示段时间的状语连用。
keep in with与•••••友好相处：
He always tries to keep in with his neighbours. 他总是努力同邻居搞好关系。
keep off避开，防止，挡住：

keep on doing (sth.) 继续做某事，反复做某事：

keep on后不能接不定式，只能接动名词，而且是表示动作的动名词，如：talking, shouting, crying等，而不接表示表态的动名词，如lying, standing, sitting, sleeping等。keep on doing与keep doing意思和用法基本相同，但前者更强调动作的重复性，反复性，亦不能用表静态的动名词；后者则强调动作的继续不断，所以既可用表动作的动名词，又可用表静态的动名词。（参见go on doing）

keep one’s ears open留心，注意听：

keep one’s feet站稳，站住脚跟：
