(2) again还可构成其它常见短语，例如：now and again常常，不时地：time and again 一次又一闪地，反复地。

against all chances一点儿希望也没有，无需：

agree with 同意（某人的）意见；与••••••相致；（气候、食物等）适合：

The price doesn’t agree with my pocketbook. 价钱高了，我身上钱不够。
The wet climate won’t agree with me. 潮湿的气候会使我感到不适应。

(1) agree with, agree on和agree to都有“同意”的意思，但后面所接的宾语不同，意义也稍有不同。agree with后面接指人或表示“意见、看法”的词。意为“同意（某人的）意见”或“与••••••（意见，看法）一致”，但不含全力合作之意。例如：
I agree with you. 我赞成你的意见。
I quite agree with what you said. 我完全同意你的话。
I don’t agree with your idea. 我不同意你的意见。
(2)agree on的主语一般是协调一件事的人们或单位，后面常常接具体协议的条件、文件、计划、行动等名词，意为“••••••达成协议”“就••••••取得一致意见”。例如：
They haven’t agreed on the price. 他们还未商定好价格。
The two parties finally agreed on the terms of the contract. 双方就合同的条款终于达到了协议。
(3)agree to后接表示建议、计划、安排之类的词，意为“同意••••••”，含愿意协助之意。例如：
They agreed to our plan at once. 他们马上同意了我们的计划。
Do you agree to this arrangement? 你同意这项安排吗？
(4)另外，agree可接不定式作宾语，但不能接动名词。例如：你愿意帮助我。
正：He agreed to help me.
误：He agreed to helping me.
(5) 表示“同意某人做某事”时，使用“agree with sb. to do sth.”或“agree that sb. do sth.” 不能用“agree sb. to do sth.”。例如：
我不赞成你同这样的人交朋友。
正：I don’t agree with you to make friends with such a man.
正：I don’t agree that you make friends with such a man.
误：I don’t agree you to make friends with such a man.
ahead of 在••••••的前面；早于，先于；优胜于，超过：
In the last lap in the 3,000-metre race, he dashed ahead of the others. 在三千米赛跑的最后一圈，他一下冲到了其它人前面。
Mary finished her English test ahead of the others. 玛丽比其它人先作英语试题。
Jim is ahead of his classmates in maths. 吉姆的数学比他的同班的同学学得好。
ahead of game领先，越过；提前，事先：
Their ideas were ahead of game. 他们的想法是超前的。
ahead of time提前：
The train came ahead of time. 这趟列车提前进站。

aim at瞄准；以••••••为目标；争取；旨在：
He aimed at the criminal and shot him dead. 他用枪瞄准那个罪犯，把他打死了。

alive and kicking 活蹦乱跳的；活生生的：
They told me Old Baldwin was dead for years. 作为年轻人，你应心怀大志。
alive to觉察到，注意到：
He was quite alive to the danger before him, but he showed no fear. 他完全意识到眼前的危险，但一点也不畏俱。
alive with充满着，富于：
The lake is alive with fish. 湖内鱼多得很。
all alone 独自地，单独地：
She is all alone in her house. 他独自一人在家里。

(1) 行；好；可以；没有问题；没有关系：
All right, let’s meet at the station. 好，我们就在车站碰头吧。
--May I go now? －现在我可以走了吧？
--All right, but be back here on time this afternoon. －可以走了，但是下午一定要准时回来。
(2)用作语气词，用于连接下文或转变话题：
All right, shall we go on? 嗯，我们继续干好吗？
(3) 的确，确实：
The man is dead all right. 那人确实死了。
(4)（健康状况）良好：
After three months in hospital, he’s now quite all right. 住院三个月后，他现在很好了。
